The chain is owned by the Fertitta family - the company recently went through a lengthy bankrupcty, but the family was allowed to retain control of most of the casinos.
It was the first outlet in the now enormous family of Station Casinos. (For comparison, Sam's Town opened in 1979). It opened in 1975 as the Bingo Palace, and was the first casino specifically targeting the locals market. Palace Station is an gargantuan casino complex just west of the Las Vegas strip.
